In the early 1950s a group of Civilian Personnel met to form a credit organization. Warren Federal Credit Union was granted a federal charter June 23, 1951. Desiring the benefits and services of credit unions, the small group found the initial going tough. Each member of the group was given a handful of passbooks to sell to other civilians at $5 each. Slowly the deposits began to mount and the loan requests started. Warren FCU continued to grow, doubling and tripling in size when its membership opened up to Military personnel and several Select Employee Groups (SEGs). Today Warren FCU is a full service credit union with over 167 million in assets and 21,000 members. The Base Office (Building 218), once an old guard house at Warren Air Force Base, had its grand opening November 16, 1974. Warren FCU before that was housed in a building across the street. The Branch Office at 114 E. 7th Avenue opened in January of 1984. Tom Kane is the President of Warren FCU. Prior to Tom Kane, Mrs. Maureen Tebo was president since 1999 and Mrs. Shirley Howard was president since 1973. There were two other presidents, Mr. Bill Walker and before that, Raymond Harrison. Warren Federal Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative that strives to respect, respond, and convey value to all of its member-owners. We exist to provide the best possible service and range of innovative, quality and convenient financial solutions to our members at competitive rates while maintaining the credit union's long-term financial stability.
