The Birmingham Airport Authority was established in 1986 by the Birmingham City Council to manage the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport and continue its growth. The Birmingham Airport Authority is governed by a seven member Board of Directors, appointed by the Mayor of City of Birmingham and confirmed by the Birmingham City Council. The day to day operation is managed by the President and CEO and The Birmingham Airport Authority staff of over 100 employees within five departments.
The Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) home to four major airlines with over 100 daily flights to 15 cities for more than 2.6 million passengers in 2016. BHM offers a great variety of food and retail options for passengers along with amenities for all passengers alike.
