Stephen (Steve) H. Johnson, President, and his wife, Phyllis T. Johnson are the second generation of the Thompson family to own and manage Thompson Hardwoods, Inc. Phyllis is the oldest of four children of Bill and Barbara Thompson, founders of Thompson Hardwoods, Inc. Steve is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Forest Technology. He began his professional career as a federal game warden with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, MD District. Then, he joined the Forest Resources Division of Hercules, Inc. in the Hattiesburg, MS and Brunswick, GA areas serving in various positions in the procurement and management of company harvesting operations of original growth southern yellow pine stumps for the naval stores industry. In 1996 Steve accepted a position as Production Manager for the Hoover Treated Wood Products, Milford, VA facility, which specialized in pressure treated wood products for commercial and residential building industries. In 1993 Steve came home to Hazlehurst, GA to assist his father-in-law, Bill Thompson manage Thompson Hardwoods, Inc.
