About
The mission of Baltic Street AEH (Advocacy, Employment, and Housing), Inc. is to assist individuals with serious and persistent mental illness to achieve successful and satisfying lives in their communities. By offering a diverse range of programs and services, Baltic Street helps people obtain jobs, housing, social supports, educational and vocational training, health benefits, financial entitlements, and other community services that greatly enhance the quality of life for consumers of mental health services. Baltic Street AEH is firmly committed to empowerment and to the promise of recovery for people with histories of mental illness. To further this purpose, a majority of the agency’s Board of Directors and staff are current or former recipients of mental health services. The agency also works to promote integrated and consumer-responsive community mental health services and to assist other organizations to integrate the principles and practices of self-help and recovery into their services. Baltic Street AEH strives to increase the general public’s understanding of mental health issues, and to decrease the stigma and alienation often experienced by persons with mental health labels. This is achieved through public education and community outreach.
