About
The Department of Regional Planning (DRP) performs all land use planning functions for the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Our services include long range planning, land development counseling, project/case intake and processing, environmental review and zoning enforcement for each of our County unincorporated communities. The origins of DRP in Los Angeles County began in 1922 with the establishment of the Regional Planning Commission (RPC), the oldest planning body in the United States. Commissioners are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. RPC advises the Board of Supervisors on all land use planning matters. DRP became an independent department in 1974 and continues to support the RPC and Board of Supervisors.
