About
Harry S. Miller is a partner at the law firm Burns & Levinson, based in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to joining Burns & Levinson LLP, he was a member of the law firm Perkins, Smith & Cohen LLP. His legal practice is concentrated in stockbroker/customer disputes, investment fraud, securities arbitration, securities litigation, estate planning, and related matters. In addition to representing defrauded investors and individuals who believe they have been cheated by their stockbroker or investment advisor, Mr. Miller also provides services to other attorneys regarding securities fraud. Mr. Miller was previously a partner in the firm of Vacovec, Miller and Rothenberg, a law firm which concentrated its practice in tax law. He has a strong background in taxation, tax and estate planning, and tax-oriented investment strategies. Harry Miller received his Juris Doctorate from Boston University School of Law in 1978, where he was the recipient of the American Bar Association Award for Estate Planning. He also attended the Graduate Tax Program at the Boston University School of Law and received an LL.M., Masters of Laws in Taxation, in 1984. Mr. Miller received his Bachelor of Arts from The Johns Hopkins University in 1975. Mr. Miller has been practicing law since 1978, and he is admitted to the Bar of Massachusetts as well as the U.S. District Court and U.S. Tax Court. He is the author of "Elements of a Claim Involving Misrepresentation", NASD Arbitrator Training Program, 1993, and "Punitive Damages in Securities Arbitration after 'Mastrobuono'", Mass. Lawyers Weekly, September, 1995. He has participated as an instructor for the National Association of Securities Dealers arbitrator training programs, and he has also been a speaker and panelist at various securities and tax programs. Harry S. Miller has consulted with defrauded investors and attorneys throughout the country and internationally in connection with securities arbitrations and stockbroker/customer disputes. He has represented customers against virtually all of the major brokerage firms as well as against smaller broker-dealers and independent investment advisors. The vast majority of such claims are settled through negotiations prior to arbitration. Mr. Miller has accepted many cases on a contingency fee basis so that the legal fee is only payable as a percentage of the ultimate arbitration award or settlement amount. He offers a free initial consultation. He also may be retained on an hourly fee basis. In appropriate circumstances he will provide services based upon a hybrid fee which combines retainers with a cap on the payments, to be applied against a contingency fee. Mr. Miller may be reached by telephone at (617)345-3000 or by e-mail at hmiller@securitieslaw.com.
