About
The School of Missionary Aviation Technology exists to prepare individuals to be aviation professionals with life skills and competencies, who model SMAT's values of caring relationships, stewardship, excellence and servant leadership in their future workplaces. This training takes place through two distinct programs. SMAT offers a 12-month aircraft maintenance training program that prepares individuals to take their FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification exams. SMAT also offers a 12-month flight training program that includes the instruction and flight experience necessary to obtain private, instrument and commercial pilot certificates. Many SMAT graduates will use their aviation skills and talents to serve with mission organizations who use aircraft to support the work of linguists, Bible translators, church planters, evangelists, medical personnel, humanitarian aid workers, and many others in some of the most remote locations around the world. Other SMAT graduates will find work in the airlines, corporate or private aviation. "Each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various foms." I Peter 4:10 (NIV)
