About
The Alameda County Bar Association (ACBA) is a voluntary-bar association with approximately 1,500 members. Founded in 1877, our mission is to promote excellence in the legal profession and to facilitate equal access to justice. In addition to MCLE courses and other membership benefits, the ACBA administers the Lawyer Referral Service to connect Alameda County residents to qualified attorneys, rigorously screened for their experience, knowledge and professionalism. Boost your practice, join our panel of attorneys! The Criminal Court Appointed Attorneys Program (CAAP) administers the conflicts program for the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda. Through this program, qualified attorneys represent indigent criminal defendants whenever the public defender is restrained by a conflict of interest. The Volunteer Legal Service Corporation (VLSC) is the pro bono arm of the Alameda County Bar Association. VLSC provides free legal services to low-income people in Alameda County and is the largest provider of pro bono legal services in the county.
