About
Get fresh, organic, seasonal vegetables from under £8 a week with our organic fruit and veg scheme, visit our farmers' market in Stoke Newington, volunteer on our farms in Hackney and Dagenham. We're reshaping the food and farming systems that feed us, providing fair, sustainable alternative routes to market for small-scale organic farmers, enabling local communities to eat really well and reducing our collective impact on the climate. We grow food and train local residents in food production at our farms in Hackney and Dagenham. We support other groups to become Better Food Traders. We also consider the bigger picture and work to create wider change: articulating our vision, advocating in support of our aims and replicating our projects. GC is a founder member of the Fruit & Vegetable Alliance, lobbying for increased UK fruit and veg production and GC director Julie Brown sits on the Defra Horticultural Round Table and was formerly on the London Food Board. We have won a BBC Food & Farming award (Best Big Food Idea), a Soil Association award (best fruit and veg for Hackney Salad), an Urban Food Award (best London Leaves) and Observer Food Monthly's award for Best Independent Retailer. We have been shortlisted for many more, Including Julie Brown being shortlisted for the Oak Award, celebrating heroes in the organic world.
