Ranyaka develops and implements transformation strategies for towns and neighbourhoods across South Africa. Our approach is place-based, collaborative and geared towards restoring the eco-system within which socio-economic challenges affect community well-being. Working hand-in-hand with local residents, municipalities, businesses, stakeholders across multiple sectors, visionary investors and all levels of government, we pursue four overall objectives. These objectives provide the foundation for the over-arching strategy, as well as the programmes we develop and implement for every area. The community development landscape is complex by nature. Ranyaka's Collaborative Community Development Model was developed in response to some of the challenges that, in our view, lie at the root of the problem. A fragmented project and investment approach to socio-economic issues The absence of a common agenda for a specific neighbourhood Limited local ownership of interventions Lack of cross-sectoral collaboration Lack of social cohesion within communities The need for funders to increasingly support a systemic approach to achieve sustainable change
