About
Virginia College Advising Corps (VCAC) is a statewide college access program based at the University of Virginia, currently serving 63 high schools in both rural and urban localities across the Commonwealth. VCAC hires recent college graduates to be near-peer, full-time college advisers. These advisers serve as a resource directly in the school building for postsecondary planning, including community college, 4-year institutions, and career & technical pathways. VCAC advisers remove barriers for students underrepresented in higher education, including first-generation students and those from low-income and underserved backgrounds. VCAC is the founding chapter of the national College Advising Corps, and is an AmeriCorps program.
