Star Academy is a private, non-profit school that is recognized throughout the Bay Area as a leader in education for students with learning differences in grades 1-12. Star Academy prepares and inspires students with learning differences to achieve their full potential. We individually-tailor our academic program to give every student the chance to experience daily success, build skills and self-confidence, and develop meaningful relationships.
What makes Star Academy unique? At Star, our goal is to prepare students for transition. Transition to less restrictive schools, to college or to the workplace. On average, students attend Star Academy for three years. Star Academy is the place where they get back on their feet, gaining the self-knowledge, aptitudes and self-assurance they need to succeed in their next pursuit, whatever it may be.
Our students face mild to moderate challenges such as: dyslexia, executive functioning deficits, dyscalculia, auditory processing, dysgraphia, ADHD and High Functioning Autism. Elementary, middle and high school students all benefit from Star’s calm, nurturing, and supportive environment, which are conducive to learning. High school students earn their high school diploma or certificate of completion and prepare to transition to college and/or other pursuits.
Star Academy is a private, non-profit, California state certified, Non-Public School (NPS) that is fully accredited by the Schools Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
