In 1972, after watching the BBC drama Cathy Come Home, SYHA's founder John Belcher began a small housing association; helping young homeless families in Sheffield. The organisation grew into South Yorkshire Housing Association, and over forty years later we are still providing quality local living; retrofitting, renovating, designing and new building homes throughout South Yorkshire. We're an award winning organisation, featuring on the Best 100 Not-For-Profit Companies To Work for in both 2016 and 2017, as well as picking up a range of industry awards. Our work is now more than just housing; over 60% of our work is providing care and support, and helping vulnerable people to remain independent.
