Our mission is to empower individuals from diverse communities to find employment and build careers, and to partner with employers to hire, develop, and retain productive workforces. Founded in 1938, JVS delivers a broad range of educational and vocational services to over 20,000 clients annually to help them and their families reach financial independence. Lifelong career supports include job search training, educational testing, career counseling, skills training, English for Speakers of Other Languages, GED classes, Adult Basic Literacy and Adult Diploma Program instruction, support for entry-level workers, microenterprise training, and financial assistance. JVS partners with over 1,400 area employers to help fill vacancies and provide the education their employees need to ascend their career ladders. Last year, JVS helped over 700 clients get jobs, and 467 of them to retain their jobs or get upgrades to them. We also helped 1,661 clients gain job skills, 1,158 to attain basic skills gains in a variety of educational areas, and 724 individuals to participate in family support activities for children with disabilities. 8,424 people attended our career workshops last year, another 7,993 utilized our computer access to search for jobs, and 1,872 former clients received follow up services and supports.JVS Boston Address
