B&D Burgers first restaurant was opened in March 2001 by Savannah resident David Tonroe. David realized that there was a real need for a premium burger restaurant in Savannah. Determined to introduce this delicacy to Savannah, David searched for a site to start the business. Broughton St. seemed the ideal location and so it proved to be. But what to call it? Why not use the names of his two sons – Blake and Duncan? And so B&D Burgers was born.
In 2004 David decided that the Southside of Savannah deserved a premium burger restaurant too. And so he opened a much larger restaurant on Abercorn St. The concept proved such a big hit with all Savannians, that it was an easy decision to open a third restaurant in City Market on Congress St.
The restaurant, which boasts 2 large bars on 2 floors, together with a 4,000 sq. ft. open air patio with a huge projection screen TV (unique in Savannah) opened its doors in November 2012 and is proving very popular with SCAD students, tourists and City folk alike.
In response to public demand, David opened a fourth restaurant in July 2014, in an exciting new development on Pooler Parkway. This restaurant has an indoor/outdoor bar with an outdoor patio that seats 60 people.
B&D Burgers can now boast of the 4 best premium burger restaurants in the South East. We are proud that our customers consistently vote B&Ds, Best burger, Best family restaurant and Best open air dining.
