Much of Fraser Trebilcock Davis & Dunlap, P.C.'s utility practice involves the representation of user groups or large volume customers seeking reasonable rates and interconnection terms from large investor-owned utilities. Often, such work relates to complex disputes between utilities and various customers regarding proper methods of rate design or cost recovery. We also work extensively with independent power producers, PURPA qualifying facilities, merchant plants, and alternative electric suppliers. On behalf of our wide array of energy-related clients, we have assisted in the development of several generation projects, providing services in regulatory proceedings, governmental relations, tax advice, contract drafting, opinion letters for financial closings, litigation, and legal advice on a wide variety of legal issues including lien laws, tax abatements, environmental regulations, easements, and other matters. We work extensively in the areas of special contracts, cogeneration law, customer choice, alternative energy, electric rates, gas utility law, and proceedings before the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC). To avoid conflicts of interest, we do not represent Consumers Energy or Detroit Edison. Our clients are typically multinational corporations with extensive operations in Michigan. Some of our representative clients include: Dow Corning Corporation Dynegy Power Corporation Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation Cleveland-Cliffs Mining Michigan Power L.P.
