In 1973, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) was created to establish a single unified command to combat "an all-out global war on the drug menace." DEA, in its unique capacity as the world’s preeminent drug law enforcement agency, identifies, investigates, disrupts, and dismantles drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) responsible for the production and distribution of illegal drugs.
