Established by the Washington State Legislature in 1994, the Washington Poison Center is the statewide provider of immediate expert treatment advice via telephone in the case of exposure to poisonous, hazardous, or toxic substances.
Our staff of Board-Certified Toxicologists, Pharmacists, and Nurses work 24/7/365 responding to calls from the general public and Washington's 98 hospitals. These dedicated medical professionals are able to provide assistance and advice that keeps 90% of calls originating from households at home, alleviating stress and avoiding unnecessary medical costs.
Washington Poison Center's medical leadership staff provide training to medical residents from the University of Washington Medical Center, University of Washington's Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Children's Hospital, and Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
