It supports First Nations in development of sound finance and administrative governance practices. The π…πŒπ is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. 𝐇𝐒𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲: In the Spring of 2005, the Government of Canada enacted the πΉπ‘–π‘Ÿπ‘ π‘‘ π‘π‘Žπ‘‘π‘–π‘œπ‘›π‘  πΉπ‘–π‘ π‘π‘Žπ‘™ π‘€π‘Žπ‘›π‘Žπ‘”π‘’π‘šπ‘’π‘›π‘‘ 𝐴𝑐𝑑 (𝑭𝑴𝑨) which gave First Nations the option to participate under the π™π™ˆπ˜Ό. To enable First Nations to participate, the π™π™ˆπ˜Ό established three Indigenous Institutions: 1. First Nations Finance Authority (𝐅𝐍𝐅𝐀) 2. First Nations Tax Commission (𝐅𝐍𝐓𝐂) 3. First Nations Financial Management Board (π…πŒπ) The purpose of these institutions was to create a mechanism to provide support and tools to First Nations to strengthen their communities and build foundations for economic development.
