Opening its doors for the first time in San Leandro, California, Straw Hat Pizza began serving its trailblazing “Genuine California Pizza†on July 10, 1959. It was an unrivaled pizza with a layered, flaky crust, the freshest toppings, light sauce, and six kinds of naturally aged cheese. In the 1970’s each establishment featured old-time movies, free Charlie Horse rides for kids, and often showcased local banjo bands. Today, we still create “Fun for all†in our restaurants as a place to go for parties, school fundraisers and sports.
