To know the how's and why's of Dewey's Bakeries origins you would have to have known Dewey G. Wilkerson Sr. He was a man with many talents; skilled carpenter, mechanic and machinist. Everything he did was with exact precision and detail. Every job he did for someone else was done as carefully as if he was doing it for himself. Dewey Sr. did things the old fashioned way; the right way; the best he knew how. In 1930 Dewey Sr. opened the first Dewey's Bakery. His vision was to bake products so fresh and good that they tasted homemade. To do this, he collected recipes from area housewives and converted them to bakery quantities. All the ingredients were the best on the market. No artificial ingredients were ever added.
