About
The Milwaukee Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center provides advocacy and a comfortable base of operations for Milwaukee's LGBT community members and allies. Located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee in the historic Blatz Boiler House building, the Center offers numerous programs and services. These include HIV/AIDS awareness and testing, the Breast Health Initiative, the Anti-Violence Project, a quit-smoking group, our TGIF group RACC, and Project Q for LGBT and questioning teenagers and young adults. In collaboration with Jewish Family Services, we will be launching an LGBT-friendly mental health clinic in 2011. Dedicated employees are joined by an enthusiastic group of volunteers to keep the Center a vital part of the Greater Milwaukee community. The Center also houses community programs like FORGE (a transgender support and advocacy group), Lesbian Alliance of Metro Milwaukee (LAMM), Parent and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), Vets Do Ask Do Tell, PrideFest, the Rainbow Alliance for the Deaf, and others. Several organizations hold regular meetings at the Center, including Out to Brunch and Gemini Gender Group. Community members are welcome to use the David Bohnett CyberCenter and to view the artwork in the Community Room. Please visit our website at www.mkelgbt.org to learn more about the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center, to join our newsletter mailing list to keep up with current happenings, or to volunteer.
