Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Inc. (CDPHP) has been serving New York state residents since 1984, when it was founded by local physicians in Albany, N.Y. as an independent, not-for-profit health plan with the stated mission of “providing quality health care at an affordable cost.” CDPHP continues to be a physician-directed plan today. A 15-member board of directors, which includes eight physicians, governs CDPHP, and community doctors play a vital role in policy-setting and administration. CDPHP’s practitioner network includes nearly 5,000 participating physicians and 3,000 mid-level practitioners.
