About
Founded in 1935 by Friedrich Schleich in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Schleich is now one of Germany's largest toy manufacturers and a leading international supplier of realistic animal figures. The design of the figures and play worlds, the manufacture of the production tools and also the quality and safety tests are still carried out in Germany. Production takes place both at the company's site in Schwäbisch Gmünd and at other production facilities abroad. As a company, we have made it our mission to bring children closer to animals and their natural habitat. With our detailed, authentic and hand-painted figures, children can gain valuable knowledge about the animal world and learn about nature in a playful way. In the meantime, six different themed worlds with more than 600 lovingly designed and high-quality individual figurines have emerged, which specifically address children in their different stages of development. Many design options ensure long-lasting play fun. We are happy to provide children with stories that bring the figures even more to life. To this end, we have established targeted partnerships with companies from various sectors. These include Universum KidsFilm GmbH, Blue Ocean Entertainment AG, Friedrich Oetinger GmbH, Schmidt Spiele GmbH, and Ameet Verlag GmbH, John Toys GmbH, Theo Klein GmbH, Nestler GmbH and hama GmbH. Together, we bring our themed worlds with the well-known Schleich characters to books, magazines and games, or to school articles and audio books, thereby bringing the characters to life. In 2018, we recorded global gross sales of almost 185 million euros, achieving an increase of around 17 percent. In Germany, we rank seventh among the largest toy manufacturers with a market share of just under 3.5 percent, and we are the market leader in the figurines segment.
