About
In 1980, NAMIC was founded as the National Association for Minorities in Cable to raise awareness, expand opportunity and shape the future. Today, more than 20 years later, our mission is more important than ever. The 2000 U.S. Census shed light on what we had presumed to be true: the American population is growing more diverse with every passing year. And that has wide-reaching effects on the communications industry — from its customer base and programming decisions to the emerging workforce and current state of employee diversity. NAMIC educates the industry on marketing approaches, programming interests and operations strategies for our nation's ever-changing population, and guides industry understanding of these complex issues. NAMIC's success lies in not only focusing on industry-wide initiatives, but also in our commitment to individuals. Our leadership development programs give the tools for professional growth directly to employees, ensuring people of color will be a major part of the power base in the new millennium.
