Thank you for visiting Notre Dame School's website and for giving us the opportunity to tell you about ourselves. Notre Dame School's mission is quite simple. We are here to provide an excellent Catholic education for secondary school age girls. Inspired by Anne de Xainctonge, who founded the Sisters of St. Ursula in France in 1606, the faculty and staff continue her vision to educate girls, foster a personal relationship with God, and be engaged in the world around them. Our small size and ethnically diverse population enhance our efforts to be a nurturing community where a challenging curriculum prepares young women for college and lives of leadership and service in the Church, society, and their families. Notre Dame School was founded on the Upper West Side of Manhattan by the first Sisters of St. Ursula who came to New York in 1901 and settled in the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes. The school has gone through both generational and geographic changes, but with each change it has become stronger and more committed to the students. A dedicated Board of Trustees now oversees the school and it continues to thrive under their leadership. The alumnae of Notre Dame School and former faculty and staff, including the Sisters of St. Ursula who conducted ND for almost 90 years, continue to be strong supporters and chief cheerleaders of what we do.
