About
Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency, Inc. (ACSS) is committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness in metro Atlanta and beyond. Every morning, nearly 7,000 people in Atlanta wake up with no place to call home. It is a sad and troubling statistic, but there is new cause for hope. ACSS empowers homeless individuals to achieve economic self sufficiency and their ultimate potential to thrive in life. The nonprofit was created from a merger of two innovative and powerful organizations with similar missions - Samaritan House of Atlanta and Atlanta Enterprise Center - and is now working to more effectively and efficiently fight homelessness in Atlanta. Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency plays a critical role along Atlanta's continuum of care to break the cycle of homelessness because we are uniquely positioned to assess, train and motivate individuals to positively change their current circumstances. ACSS fulfills its mission through three core programs that address tangible and emotional barriers to employment and self sufficiency by preparing individuals to identify and attain short- and long-term goals. Our programs include: CareerWorks, a job readiness training and placement program; the Veterans Employment Assistance Program, a targeted initiative aimed at helping veterans re-integrate into the workforce; and Café 458, a life stabilization program and restaurant for homeless adults with mental and physical disabilities.
