About
For over 190 years Friends Association has provided essential social services for children and families. Our programs currently focus on homeless or near homeless families with children. We operate one of only two family shelters in Chester County and one of the few homeless prevention programs in the region. Our goal is to strengthen our community by helping the families we serve find or maintain permanent housing and achieve stability and self-sufficiency. Friends Association helps homeless or near homeless families stabilize their lives and find or maintain permanent housing. For an impoverished family, an unexpected expense or a decrease in income can result in eviction and homelessness. Through our Emergency Family Shelter and Homeless Prevention Programs we address the needs of a wide range of families, from those who have become homeless to those who only need rental assistance for a limited time. Our Shelter program combines a private, safe setting and basic necessities with effective, individualized case management services for homeless families with children. We strive to keep parents and children together as they work toward becoming stable and productive in their homes, jobs, and schools. In our Homeless Prevention Program we help families with children find or maintain safe, permanent housing. Our program balances strong case management services with financial assistance, when needed, for families coming from a shelter or those facing eviction. Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Our volunteers are critical to the success of each family's journey to a lifestyle of self-sufficiency. Your time and skills, offered in volunteer service, supplement Friends Association’s efforts to empower homeless and at-risk families in finding the way to a permanent home! We have opportunities for you or your group to volunteer with us and make a difference in the life of a family in need.
