Dorignac's Food Center has been family-owned and operated, by the Dorignac family, since 1947. Its roots go back to the Lower Garden District, where Joseph Dorignac, Jr. first opened his first grocery store on Jackson Avenue, between Magazine Street and the Mississippi River. Dorignac's Food Center moved to its Metairie location in 1963, and has achieved landmark status at its Veteran's Memorial Boulevard location. Dorignac's has built a wide spread reputation for service, meeting the needs of their customers and a large variety of quality products. While the store's facade remains unchanged, so does its legacy. While sticking to their roots, the Dorignac family has continued to improve upon their products and services offered to their customers and future customers. Like his father, mother and grandmother, Joseph Dorignac, III, up until his death in 2006, continued to build upon the Dorignac legacy, which is synonymous with quality in service and products, for generations to come.
