About
Sebago Technics, the civil, environmental and land use engineering firm with offices in Auburn and Westbrook, is committed to helping Lewiston-Auburn grow. Sebago Technics is a partner in the development of the Lewiston-Auburn community. Whether it's working for a private developer, business, property owner or the cities of Lewiston and Auburn, Sebago Technics has the ability to provide a diversity of services to take projects from concept to completion. Sebago Technics' ability to provide a multitude of engineering and land use services in-house eliminates the need for subcontracting, consolidates responsibility, clarifies communication and approvals processing, ultimately saving clients money and time. Sebago Technics' capabilities are in use everyday, as the Lewiston,Auburn area continues to be the economic development engine of the state. One example is the new industrial park under development by the Auburn Business Development Corp (ABDC), the creation of which is calling on nearly the full range of expertise and skills provided by Sebago Technics. The firm has been responsible for design, permitting (state, local, environmental, transportation), environmental impact studies; land planning; surveying; geotechnical engineering; and will continue to support this important local project through final approvals and construction of the park's infrastructure. According to those most familiar with the project, there is an urgent need for new commercial and industrial capacity in the L-A area. The ABDC business park will fill that need just in time. Building an industrial park is similar to building a small city, from scratch, and Sebago Technics' resources and personnel are up to the task. Sebago Technics is integrally involved in supporting much of the development in the Twin Cities. In Lewiston, the company recently designed and permitted the new Fed Ex building, the Sabattus Street Pharmacy, Gendron Business Park, Chestnut Hill Residential Subdivision on Randall Road and the Apple Valley Subdivision on Pinewoods Road. In Auburn, Sebago planned and gained approvals for the new Residence Inn Hotel in the mall area, Gendron Warehouse (home of Bisson Moving and Storage) on Kittyhawk and the Auburn Crossing retail development at Exit 75, to name a few. Ford Reiche, president of Safe Handling in Auburn, and winner of numerous awards for environmentally responsible innovations, has used the services of Sebago Technics to engineer the significant expansions to their Auburn facilities. One of the newest and most public projects in which Sebago Technics is playing a major role is the creation of the Lake Auburn Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan Southern Link, a two-mile long hiker-biker trail system, construction of which is pending funding from a federal Department of Transportation enhancement grant. The trail will originate at the Lake Auburn boat launch and head along the lakeside through Central Maine Community College, St. Dom's Regional High School, and out past the Berry Farm onto Mt. Auburn Avenue. Plans are eventually to design a second phase that will link around the west side of the Lake, to complete the loop. Working with its client, the Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission, Sebago Technics collaborated with involved landowners and institutions to develop the trail system plan. From the simplest site evaluation to projects as complex as the ABDC Park, Sebago Technics uses an innovative team-based concept of project delivery. Small, integrated, multi-disciplinary teams work together through the full scope of the project. Mark Adams, executive vice president of Sebago Technics, explains, "This constant contact generates communication, fosters collaboration and creative problem solving, saves time and money, and instills client confidence. [Our] team-based approach ensures accountability, control, and good communication. Each team member feels responsible for delivery of the completed project. It's a more focused, productive way to work." Retail, residential, commercial, industrial; public works and private enterprise: Sebago Technics can get it off the ground and into reality. "Engineering expertise you can build on", multi-disciplinary capabilities from a single, integrated source, right here in Lewiston-Auburn, and an essential component of the new growth of the community.
