Since our inception in 1914, Compass Family Services has responded to the needs of the community and is one of the longest operating social services agencies in California. Today, Compass helps homeless families and families at imminent risk for homelessness to achieve housing stability, family well-being, and self-sufficiency. Our nine programs provide services to more than 6,000 parents and children in 2019, 50% of whom are under age 18. We provide an integrated system of housing, education, and employment services, through our programs, 88% of families do not become homeless again.
Of our 100+ staff members, 57% are people of color, 73% are women, and more than 20% have been homeless and bring firsthand knowledge to their work with clients.
Our nine interconnected programs, Central City Access Point, Compass SF HOME, Compass Family Shelter, Compass Clara House, Compass Clinical Services, Compass Children's Center, Compass Childcare Support Services, Compass Family Resource Center, and the NeighborNest in partnership with Twitter, offer families a broad spectrum of services including:
