As Christians, we are called to do the work of Christ in the world. As such, St. Luke's is heavily involved in mission work. To find out more about any of these projects, please contact Rev. Kelly Inman at 694-2571. Kenya We support the mission work of Bill and Jerri Savuto, who are working to bring education and medical services to the people of Kenya. Much of the work we do helps support the children who have been orphaned by AIDS. We hope to have another trip scheduled in 2011. McCurdy School Each year, St. Luke's UMC sends a team to Espanola, NM to work at McCurdy school. "As a national mission institution related to the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, McCurdy School is committed to providing a quality education in a Christ-Centered environment." You are welcome to go with us this year as we seek to reach out across the country in exciting ways! Check back often for dates and times of our next trip to McCurdy school. Christmas in Action We have several work teams who help repair the homes of elderly and low income people each year in April. Work has included painting, carpentry, roofing and siding. Habitat for Humanity St. Luke's is proud to be a part of Habitat for Humanity's efforts to erase homelessness by helping families with affordable housing. In 2010, we partnered with other Midland churches in the Apostle's Build and are excited to begin that work again this year! Help us as we seek to erase poverty and homelessness in Midland one house, one family, one person at a time.
