About
New York Edge is a non-profit organization and one of the largest providers of school-based afterschool programs in New York City and the metropolitan region. As one of the few K-12 programs in New York City, we impact more than 25,000 students and their families in over 130 sites. These schools are typically in underserved neighborhoods with families who's income is at or below the poverty line. Programs run before or after the school day, year-round (including Saturdays, over the summer, and holiday periods). These are times when violent juvenile crime triples and it is during these same times that children face the most serious danger of becoming victims of crime. High quality afterschool programs are endorsed by law enforcement organizations because they are effective in reducing violence, theft, vandalism, gang activity, and other adolescent crimes. After 25 years as Sports and Arts in School we have changed our name to better reflect the opportunities we prove kids in academics, health & wellness, arts and athletics. We give student an edge, the chance they need to succeed.
