About
APM Terminals MVII has been in operation since April 2015 and is the world's most technologically advanced container terminal. The terminal has an annual capacity of 2.7 million TEU. With a 1,000-metre-long quay and a harbour depth of 20 metres, the port can accommodate the handling of the largest container ships in the world.\n\nThe rail terminal currently consists of four tracks, but will be expanded to eight tracks in the future. This rail terminal also has a direct connection to the Betuwe route, a 160-kilometre stretch of dual-rail, electric freight railway line that connects the Port of Rotterdam with the German border at Zevenaar-Emmerich.\n\nAPM Terminals MVII has a 500-metre-long inland quay and is therefore in an excellent position to serve the European network of inland waterways.\n\nThe separate barge quay and fully integrated rail terminal ensure a seamless delivery and transport of containers to and from the hinterland. The terminal has dedicated container stacks for inland shipping, rail and truck transport. After being discharged from the deepsea vessel, import containers are placed in the stack corresponding to the scheduled inland modality so that they are immediately available for further transport. The terminal also utilises slot planning for trucks, which results in fast terminal throughput and immediate availability of containers.\n\nThe use of green energy and fully electric equipment makes APM Terminals MVII the world's first zero-emissions terminal with regard to CO2, NOx and particulate emissions. Thanks to automated areas with fully fenced perimeters that keep people and machinery apart, it is also one of the safest terminals.
