About
Queens, NY-based Sabra was founded in 1986 and then bought in 1994 by Yehudah Pearl, lifetime businessman and the driving force behind the company. Since joining, Pearl orchestrated a re-branding campaign and parlayed a budding consumer interest in Mediterranean cuisine to bring Sabra into the mainstream. Under his leadership, Sabra gained shelf-space and market-share in major supermarket chains and wholesale stores nationwide. In an extreme category makeover, Sabra has inspired significant category growth as well. Once restricted to smaller ethnic groceries, Sabra is now a leading supplier of Mediterranean-style food products in the U.S. In 2005, Sabra attracted the attention of multi-billion dollar international food entity Strauss-Elite, which purchased a majority share of the Company. Sabra has enjoyed the attention of consumers, media and industry experts.
