Founded during the presidency of George Washington (1792), Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft is one of the nation's oldest law firms. Its more than 500 lawyers provide a range of services (real estate, tax, health care), but it is best known for its work in banking, insurance, and other financial services. The firm has offices in Charlotte, North Carolina; London; New York City; and Washington, DC. Written off by many in the mid-1990s as a stodgy Wall Street firm, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft has been restructuring in recent years; changes include an increased pay scale, a new bonus system, and the introduction of a year-round casual dress code.
