The International Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA) is a worldwide network of organizations dedicated to achieving equal rights for LGBTI people. Founded in 1978, it is one of the longest-running organisations for LGBTI people in the world and it enjoys consultative status at the United Nations, where it speaks and advocates on behalf of more than 1,500 member organisations from 152 countries and territories. It is present in six world regions (Pan Africa ILGA, ILGA Asia, ILGA-Europe, ILGALAC, ILGA North-America and ILGA Oceania), constantly working for a world where global justice and equity are assured regardless of the people's sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions and bodily diversities.
