About
UCP, founded in 1950, is a $10 million nonprofit leader in Cleveland's disability community with 200 dedicated employees providing 17 distinct programs and services offered to 1,300 individuals with significant and diverse disabilities on the continuum from infants to senior adults. While UCP was founded by a group of parents whose children had been diagnosed with the condition of cerebral palsy, today only 22% of clients served have this condition. Through the provision of expert therapeutic interventions for children and innovative community integration and employment programs for adults, services have expanded over the years to serve clients with a wide variety of disabilities including, but not limited to, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, developmental delay, spinal cord injury, genetic disorders and autism spectrum disorder. To reach a larger audience who can benefit from our expertise and services, our agency has branded our two distinct branches of service as Centers of Excellence—LeafBridge for Children with Disabilities and OakLeaf for Adults with Disabilities. The mission of UCP is to empower children and adults with disabilities to advance their independence, productivity and community inclusion.
