Rex Lumber is the largest wholesale-hardwood distributor on the eastern seaboard. In business for over 50 years, Rex Lumber services woodworkers, retailers, store fixture manufacturers and other companies that use hardwood lumber in their manufacturing processes. Rex employs over 300 people, but has been able to maintain a family-like atmosphere in spite of its growth. Many employees have been with the company for 10, 20 or even 40 years. The combination of dedicated employees, a long list of good suppliers of high quality lumber, and loyal customers has enabled Rex to become one of the premier hardwood and softwood suppliers in the country. Rex Lumber Company has four facilities located in Acton, Massachusetts, South Windsor, Connecticut, Englishtown, New Jersey and Doswell, Virginia. Our corporate headquarters in Acton is also home to over three million board feet of kiln-dried lumber, and approximately 500,000 board feet of air-dried lumber. Eight kilns transform green lumber into dry stock ready for sale. Thousands of lineal feet of moulding and surfaced lumber are processed daily in the Massachusetts mill which has three moulders and two planers. Our largest mill is located in Connecticut, where there are five moulders and a state-of-the-art computerized, cross-cut & rip saw. The Englishtown facility also has a mill and stores up to 1.5 million board feet of kiln-dried stock and two million board feet of air-dried stock. The Virginia facility is smaller, storing 600,000 board feet of kiln-dried lumber. The millwork facility has a roughing planer, a cabinet planer and a straight-line rip saw. Trucks leave Rex facilities daily and deliver lumber to customers from Maine to North Carolina. We also export lumber overseas and ship lumber via contract carrier to the Midwest and West Coast.
