About
Louisville Collegiate School's Strategic Plan has identified a fieldhouse as a priority for attracting and retaining students who choose to experience athletics as part of their world class education at Collegiate. Champion's Trace provides an excellent field for over 200 students; girls and boys, middle and upper school Soccer, Lacrosse, and Field Hockey teams. However, there are a few items woefully missing at Champion's Trace- proper bathrooms, a concession stand, storage facility, and any covered shelter for rain protection and shade. The Building and Ground's committee has been diligently working to design a fieldhouse that will address safety, hygiene, potable water, concession sales and the creature comforts of a proper facility (no more Port-a-Potties) at Champion's Trace. The Committee will deliver this project for under $200,000, with the necessity of running sewage and power lines to Newburg Road attributing for a bulk of the cost. Through the design process, the Committee weighed our children's safety, proximity to the playing fields and designs/finishes that are affordable, functional, and sustain Collegiate's standards. The latest design bids will be received in the next two weeks. The Booster Club has committed general funds and multi-year proceeds from the annual golf scramble towards this project. Additionally, the Development Committee has begun to promote community interest and corporate donations for helping to fund this facility. Combined we have secured more than $100,000 in commitments without reaching out to the greater Collegiate community. With the promise shown already through these pledges, we are confident that we can secure the remaining $100,000 funds from within the community. Timing on this project is critical! We need to have 100% of the pledged funds in hand by March 27 in order to award the bid by April, secure permitting, and be under construction this summer so we have it completed for when we all return to school in August, 2009. This requires securing the additional required funds in the next two weeks. What we need from you:Please discuss this topic at the breakfast, lunch, and dinner tables of your family and decide how you are able to show your support. Contributions of all sizes are welcome and appreciated. The Board has indicated that a two-year pledge would suffice for considering this project fully funded. We are a strong community and raising $100,000 for this project is absolutely feasible. Remember that this project will be used well, appreciated immensely and will generate more profits for the school athletic programs of the future. This is a wonderful way to honor your child, teacher, PE teacher, coach, athletic team or friend. Please rally together and determine the pledge that is right for you and your family. It is easy for you to make your commitment today! Simply c lick here for more details about the building and an electronic pledge form. You can either print the pledge form and return to Jennifer Hartlage in the Development Office or respond to this email with your pledge today. Please act quickly as we need your pledge commitment by March 27 to make this project a reality. If you have any questions please contact Jennifer Hartlage (502-479-0345) or myself at 954-899-2295.
