About
For over 100 years, The Children's Institute has offered healing and hope to children, youth and their families. Our focus is simple: help each child realize his or her fullest potential. Originally known as the Home for Crippled Children, then The Rehabilitation Institute, and today, as The Children's Institute, we provide individualized treatment programs along a broad continuum: inpatient and outpatient care in our Hospital, along with The Day School and Project STAR, our social service component. As we evolved to meet the changing needs of children, we benefited from consistent and generous gifts from people like you. Those gifts began in 1902 with an estate gift, providing our first home. And in 1915, our first-ever community appeal was launched to raise $60,000. In an astounding four days, our friends responded with more than $90,000. People who understand the needs of our amazing kids have supported campaigns for new treatment facilities, donated summer homes, volunteered their time and in our earlier days, even given fresh vegetables from their gardens. As we look to the future, your support is more important than ever. We invite you to join us today. Help ensure that we are able to keep our long tradition of excellence and adaptability, as we continue to serve the evolving needs of our community - both today and in the future. Each child who comes here has a need; each family, a single goal.
