Court Appointed Special Advocates - CASA of San Mateo County empowers YOU to make a difference in the life of a child who has been abused or neglected.
What We do: CASA of San Mateo County recruits, trains, and supports adult volunteers as a powerful voice for the best interest of abused and neglected children who have come under the court’s protection because their parents can’t or won’t take care of them.
What CASA Volunteers do: They listen first. Then they act. Volunteers devote 2-4 hours a week getting to know the child by talking with everyone in that child's life: parents and relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers and others. They use the information they gather to inform judges and others of what the child needs and what will be the best permanent home for them. They provide consistent, caring support and make sure the child doesn't get lost in the system.
For many children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives. For many volunteers, CASA is a life-changing experience that makes a difference in our community.
With just a few hours a week, you can make a lifetime of impact for a child in foster care.
