Kimball's is a family run business that began in 1939, and has been drawing crowds from near and far ever since. The barn which houses the ice cream stand began as a dairy barn back in 1908. Back then the Kimball family would wholesale the milk. Right before the creation of the ice cream stand, John Allen Kimball was considering processing the milk and selling it house to house, the idea never came to be, and it was right around that time a salesman was passing through the area. The salesman stopped to see if he could interest John in starting up an ice cream stand, purchasing ice cream mix from him. John decided to try the idea and that is how Kimball's began. The Kimball's built an ice cream stand which became the first location of soon-to-be famous Kimball Farm Ice Cream. Kimball's began with twelve flavors.
