Northern Community Legal Centre (NCLC) is a generalist community legal service. NCLC is committed to providing access to justice through free legal advice and casework to the most socially, economically, and culturally marginalised members of the community.
NCLC operates in one of the fastest growing areas of Melbourne, and has a significant catchment including the Hume City Council, Moreland City Council, and Mitchell Shire Council. The NCLC operates from a central office located in Gladstone Park, with outreach services to other service areas, including Broadford, Sunbury, Coburg, and Craigieburn.
The main purpose of the NCLC is the benevolent relief of suffering, distress, misfortune, helplessness, and disadvantage experienced by people who live, work, or study in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, and in particular those who would not otherwise have access to legal assistance. The objects of the NCLC include the provision of free and accessible services to vulnerable and disadvantaged people including legal services, legal education, community development, law reform initiatives, and advocacy. The NCLC has a strong and proud focus on family violence.
