Carnegie Robotics, LLC (CRL) is a leading provider of advanced robotics sensors and platforms for defense, agriculture, mining, infrastructure and energy applications. CRL was founded by Dr. John Bares and several colleagues in May 2010 as a spinout of Carnegie Mellon University's National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC), one of the world's premier research and development organizations for advanced field robotics, machine vision and autonomy. Dr. Bares served as NREC Director from 1997 to 2010 during which time he oversaw a tenfold revenue increase and dramatic growth of the organization's stature and sponsor base. He recognized that field robotics markets would not reach their potential until companies emerged who could effectively engineer, manufacture, supply and support the critical sensors, software and components that form robotic systems. To meet the market need, Carnegie Robotics developed core competencies in engineering, manufacturing and testing of highly reliable and environmentally robust products. CRL has targeted its early hiring and capital equipment expenditures to support reliable execution of processes customers expect from a component supplier. In early 2015, John Bares left his daily duties at CRL to establish the Uber Advanced Technology Center in Pittsburgh. Bares recruited Steve DiAntonio to serve as CRL's President and CEO. DiAntonio, a CRL founder, worked closely with Bares at NREC, serving as the organization's Business Development Director since 1999. Together with CRL Executive Vice President Brian Beyer, DiAntonio looks to accelerate CRL's growth as the robotics product market rapidly develops.Carnegie Robotics Address
