The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) represents 95,000 cardiovascular professionals from more than 120 countries. The ESC includes 6 subspecialty associations, 5 councils, 15 working groups and 56 national cardiac societies. It also includes a distinguished community of ESC Fellows. ESC's mission is to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease. It does this by providing healthcare professionals with the latest research and clinical practice guidelines so they can provide their patients with the best possible care. The ESC publishes a dozen leading scientific journals, including the European Heart Journal, and organises major conferences, such as ESC Congress, the world's largest cardiovascular meeting which attracts more than 33,000 heart specialists each August.
