Brooke Charter Schools is a network of high-performing public charter schools in Boston. Our mission is to provide an academically rigorous public education that will ensure our students are prepared to attend and succeed in college and beyond. Named after the late Senator Edward W. Brooke, the first African-American popularly elected to the U.S. Senate, Brooke Charter Schools has achieved exceptional results for historically underserved students through a relentless focus on excellent teaching. \n\nSince 2002, Brooke has grown from a single site school to a network of four campuses that serves 1,899 students from Boston and Chelsea. Initially founded as a middle school, the original Brooke campus in Roslindale quickly became one of the highest performing Kindergarten through eighth grade (K-8) schools in Boston. Following a legislative lift to the charter cap in 2010, Brooke expanded, opening two additional K-8 campuses: Brooke Mattapan in 2011 and Brooke East Boston in 2012. In August 2016, Brooke opened its first high school which moved into a 90,000 square foot, state-of-the-art building in Mattapan in August of 2018. Brooke currently serves students in grades K-11 and will grow to serve 2,200 students in grades K-12 by 2023.
