About
The Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) is a Swedish pioneer. We’ve been in business since the 1960s, and our research and education is at the forefront. With almost 200 employees and 5,000 students, the department is one of Stockholm University's largest. The acronym – DSV – is derived from our Swedish name: Institutionen för data- och systemvetenskap. In research and education, we engage in issues that involve new technology and people; as individuals and as societies. AI, human–computer interaction, organisational design for digital transformation, innovation in healthcare, e-learning, cyber security, Internet of Things (IoT) and gaming are some of the areas that we’re interested in. What are the ethical considerations of sharing and using personal data? Can ICT be a solution to social problems in developing countries? And how can digital traces and evidence help prevent international crime? Questions like these occupy DSV researchers. Their research is interdisciplinary and closely connected to private and public organizations. The research results spill over to our courses and programs. Our students are very sought after in the job market, some 80 percent are hired even before they graduate. Geographically, DSV is situated in Sweden’s ICT hot spot: Kista Science City. In this cluster, R&D activities are carried out by academic institutions, new startups and world leading tech companies in collaboration. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us at DSV!
