Established in 2005 to address the pandemic of childhood obesity by transforming the way children eat, Recipe for Success Foundation has grown from a grassroots Houston initiative to one with a national footprint and reputation.
Recipe for Success Foundation works to change the way our children understand, appreciate and eat their food, and to educate and mobilize the community to provide healthier diets for children. Programs have empowered more than 35,000 youth with the knowledge and skills to make a lifetime of healthy eating decisions. Through efforts—including the nationally offered Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education™, Farmers MarKIDS™ curriculum, Eat It! Food Adventures children's cookbooks, the VegOut! 30 Ways in 30 Days Challenge and Hope Farms--a 7 acre produce farm in Houston, the Foundation aims to make healthy food appealing and available to everyone.
Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Educationâ„¢ program has created measurable change for more than 50,000 children with its integrated curriculum. Teaching students how to grow, harvest and cook nutritious foods, empowers them to make a lifetime of healthy eating decisions, and the program is now available to schools nationwide through Affiliate Partnerships. Affiliate Partner applications are available at info@recipe4success.org
The VegOut! Challenge makes eating vegetables a deliciously healthy and fun adventure by gamifying it, using a free mobile App and the VegOutWithRFS.org website which were developed in partnership with Pariveda Solutions.
Launched with seed-funding from Wells Fargo Foundation, Hope Farms generates significant food crops in the midst of one of Houston's largest food deserts while training U.S. Military Veterans to become urban farmers. Hope Farms is also a community gathering place, offering a weekly farm stand, cooking and gardening classes and special events celebrating the harvest and shared meals.
