The mission of the Sacramento SPCA is to foster a loving and compassionate community for animals and people by providing assistance, creating lifelong relationships, and saving lives.
Since 1892, we’ve worked to reduce pet overpopulation through affordable spay/neuter services, promote the humane treatment of animals through education and outreach, and assist pet owners through a variety of programs and services designed to keep pets and their families together for life.
As an independent non-profit organization it receives no government funding and relies on private donations from the local community to care for the more than 5,500 animals that come to the shelter each year.
Services offered in addition to pet adoptions:
- Animal behavior helpline
- Dog training
- Humane education programs and summer camps for youth
- Affordable, high quality spay/neuter clinic
- Programs for seniors
- Vaccine, licensing, microchip and wellness clinics
- Volunteer opportunities
